Requirements and Competencies


  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with ambassadors and guests with ability to maintain professional etiquette
  • Must be able to pass all provided Horticulture department training
  • Must be able to stand for entire shift
  • Must be able to bend, reach, twist, and turn with complete flexibility
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Must be comfortable with exposure to noise and vibrations
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions and temperature extremes
  • Must be able to train on and properly use protective gear
  • Must be comfortable working around fumes/dust/odor
  • Must be able to work in water up to chin deep with flotation device in order to maintain horticultural displays adjacent to waterways
  • Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be available to work varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays


Desired Qualifications

  • Previous professional horticulture experience or related education
  • Previous guest service experience
  • Previous experience with small power landscaping equipment
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license preferred


Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform proper plant installation, correct hand watering, and correct pruning on a wide variety of plants, trees, palms, shrubs, and tropical plants while maintaining health, growth, and desired size
  • Perform various mowing-related tasks to include riding lawn mower, edging, trimming, and backpack blowing to maintain neat, healthy, and attractive turf
  • Perform proper weeding by hand on landscape beds to create a neat, clean appearance and avoid the growth of weeds
  • Perform proper mulching of landscape beds to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and minimize soil temperature fluctuations
  • Safely utilize hand tools, and operate various equipment including augers, trimmers, shears, and tillers, as well as company vehicles to transport materials and equipment to job sites
  • Assist with landscape renovations to include performing landscape construction to improve the visual impact of the park environment
  • Perform tasks related to weather protection to include repair work related to weather damage
  • Maintain cleanliness of all assigned areas as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
