Position: Landscape Architect

Job Function: The landscape architect will meet with clients, conduct field investigations and site analyses, develop conceptual, preliminary and final designs, renderings, construction drawings, and perform contract administration for both residential and commercial projects. They will provide onsite management of construction and installation crews for the Sea Island Landscape and Property Services team.


 •        Meets with prospects to discuss potential projects

•        Seek new business through networking, referrals, marketing or by giving presentations

•        Control and drive all financial aspects including revenue, payroll, cost of goods and controllable expenditures

•        Accurately assess the scope of customer specifications as related to specific projects

•        Estimating & procuring proposals

•        Create design documents, together with conceptual and final landscape designs, renderings, cost estimates, scope of work, specifications and other construction documents

•        Design detailed representations of jobs to include development of conceptual, preliminary and final designs, renderings, and construction drawings for use in both selling projects to clients and guiding the installations of those jobs

•        Timely and exceptional customer follow-up

•        Conduct preliminary site studies and assess potential to meet client specifications

•        Work with regulatory review agencies to obtain approval of projects

•        Perform contract administration for both residential and commercial projects

•        Provide onsite management of construction and installation crews for the Sea Island Landscape and Property Services team

•        Oversees sub-contractor activities at job sites

•        Inspects work in progress to ensure compliance with landscape specifications, to approve quality of materials and work

•        Works closely with the landscape installation and maintenance teams to see projects to completion and satisfy client expectations

•        Tracks and maintains cost controls over projects and designs to achieve budgeted or estimated goals

•        Prepare routine reports

•        If applicable, conduct direct report performance reviews

•        Lead and direct orientation, training and development for related design staff

•        Assign design staff work to achieve maximum labor/dollar efficiency

•        Communicate and enforce company policies, rules and regulations, provide guidance and direction for staff which supports Sea Island procedures and consistent with federal and state law

•        To guide, coach, counsel, develop, train and inspire direct reports in a leadership role which promotes teamwork and enhances the overall service experience and maximum productivity

•        Ensure that work sites are maintained in a safe manner and comply with all State, Federal, County and company operations standards

•        Partner with the Security department in maintaining Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards

•        Maintain a thorough knowledge of Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions to the best of one’s ability

•        Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas

•        Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing

•        Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures

•        Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement

•        Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership


 Minimum Requirements:

 •        Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from accredited Landscape Architecture program

•        Tenured experience in residential and/or commercial landscape design

•        Georgia Landscape Architect licensure

•        Strong knowledge of the local plant palette

•        Proficiency in AutoCAD, Land FX, Sketch-up, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D rendering and Microsoft Office

•        Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

•        Valid Georgia Driver’s License

•        Company policy requires that one must be 21 years of age or older to drive a company vehicle and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review 

•        Ability to effectively produce professional landscape plans and renderings through a combination of hand drawings and computer aided tools

•        Ability to effectively present and explain designs to current and potential clients

•        Ability to easily adapt to organizational and environmental changes

•        Have a core understanding of basic construction principles and concepts

•        Ability to work with a team in delivering projects safely, on time and within budget

•        Must have ability to courteously present information to people in one-on-one and group situations

Physical Responsibilities:

 •        Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods

•        Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy

•        If applicable, must have the ability to work for extended periods of time in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain and higher than normal noise levels

•        Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 80 lbs intermittently throughout a shift

•        Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal

•        No visible tattoos, visible body piercing or unnatural hair color or hairstyles per company grooming standards
