The Position

The Superintendent role is responsible for the successful completion of assigned projects.  The Superintendent participates in overseeing successful project completion, job site safety, team scheduling, and communication with field staff.


  • Oversight of successful completion of multiple landscape construction projects operating simultaneously
  • Understand and oversee the proper installation of plant material per project plans and specifications
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and Plant Buyer for procurement and delivery timing of plants, sod, and mulch
  • Allocate labor and equipment; coordinate equipment rentals with Project Manager
  • Manage crew schedule and timecards to optimize and track labor costs
  • Recruit, hire, and train laborers and crew leaders
  • Reinforce Big Tree safety policies and procedures, including compliance with DOT and OSHA
  • Document and communicate GC/client feedback to Project Manager
  • Identify any job site problems and proactively make recommendations to Project Manager
  • Ensure that construction equipment, tools and material are properly maintained to minimize damage or losses
  • Assist with setting up job site logistics, field coordination, and project schedule

Core Components for Success

  • Landscape construction experience preferred
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and read and understand blueprints and specifications
  • General plant, irrigation, construction, and drainage knowledge
  • Competent verbal and written communication skills in English – Bilingual Spanish
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Very strong organizational and planning skills; ability to manage changing priorities and workflow
  • A dedication to learning and improving company standards, procedures, and goals
  • Willingness to work long hours, including overtime and weekends, and assist with other projects
  • Committed to continual skill enhancement for top level industry performance

  • Possess pertinent physical requirements commensurate with the job
  • Valid Florida driver’s license
