Matlack Tree Farm is owned by Ty Matlack who has over 45 years experience in landscaping and horticulture that has evolved into a valuable presence in the wholesale nursery industry. Ty and his staff take a tremendous amount of time to ensure that the product they are selling is of the very highest quality and they like to focus on that personal touch with every single customer. 

 

The farm includes over 40 acres of the finest oak, magnolia, crape myrtle, palms and more and is located in south Clermont, Florida. Although a large number of our customers are from Central Florida, we also sell and ship over the entire Southeast. Matlack Tree Farm is proud to announce its new Retail Outlet Center to help serve the public.

Matlack Tree Farm is State Certified to ship to the entire Southeast as well as Texas, Louisiana and Nevada.

Daily Operations:

  • Assist with inventory from deliveries and our growing operations

  • Assist with growing and schedules

  • Ability to operate farm equipment and machinery

  • Assisting in irrigation maintenance

  • Understand irrigation schedules, spraying, and fertilizing protocols 

  • Knowledge of greenhouse/growing operations as it pertains to pest/disease control, temperatures, soil analysis pruning, potting up, weed management, pruning etc.

  • Application of fertilizer, herbicide and pesticide

  • Manage training practices and supervision team members in all procedures and processes related to plant production

Qualification/Education 

  • Five years of nursery/greenhouse production experience required

  • Bilingual (english/spanish) preferred but not required

  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related field

  • Technical and practical knowledge of growing trees and shrubs 

  • Familiarity with proper moisture management techniques.

  • Familiarity with proper nutrient management procedures.

  • Ability to identify common crop insect and disease problems

  • Ability to observe crop stress signs

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

  • Work in a fast pace and diverse environment

  • Ability to work extended hours on a seasonal basis

  • Good health conditions as the job position requires lifting, standing, driving, walking, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Work outdoors (year-round), in greenhouse and field environments

  • High Temperatures - Ability to work in extreme heat

  • Hours may vary - 40 - 50 hours/week
