Plant Nursery Technician - Southeast Nursery (Full-Time) Starting at $15.00/hr


Job Function

The Plant Nursery Technician position assists in the upkeep of the inventory, fulfillment of customer orders and the maintenance of the nursery with the upmost customer service and teamwork

Use of Company Vehicle:

  • Not required to drive a company vehicle

Duties:

  • Serve an integral role at the Nursery of assisting customers with plant orders, upkeep of plant inventory, and ensuring grounds are properly maintained
  • Assist in upkeep of plant material by pruning, thinning, and weeding
  • Ensure plant material is properly hydrated and irrigation systems are functioning properly
  • Write plant order tickets that accurately correspond with the customer’s order
  • Work with Nursery leadership to ensure proper plant layout on Nursery site
  • Load and offload nursery supplies (plants, mulch, topsoil, soil amendments)
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of Nursery site
  • Safely operate outdoor equipment, mechanical equipment, and hand tools
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures while complying with legal regulations
  • Properly use protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves
  • Report any hazardous working conditions to management immediately
  • Attend scheduled meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in horticultural or botanical industry preferred but not required
  • Basic knowledge of plant materials or willingness to learn quickly
  • Consistent effort to expand plant material knowledge
  • Ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Understanding of safe operation of small hand tools and landscape equipment
  • Fluent in written and verbal English language
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Communicate well with customers and team members

  • Attend all scheduled meetings and provide suggestions for improvement
  • Clean driving record, drug-free and valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods     
  • If applicable, must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull, and push up to 50 lbs intermittently throughout a shift or use repeatedly throughout a shift
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and fume hazards
  • Maintain compliance with Company Resort Professional Image Policy
