Job Summary:
Native Tree Nursery is seeking a dynamic and motivated Sales & Marketing Associate to join our team of dedicated horticulturalists and plant experts. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive sales, increase brand awareness, and enhance customer relations. This role is ideal for someone who is both passionate and knowledgeable about plants, marketing, community engagement, and the opportunity for professional growth within the horticulture industry.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Sales & Marketing: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for customer acquisition and retention as well as to promote our nursery’s offerings, including through social media, email marketing, print materials, trade shows, and events. Work closely with the nursery’s management and horticultural teams to align sales and marketing efforts with the mission of Native Tree Nursery. Ensure plant availability, pricing, specifications, and images are kept current. Maintain labeling of plants. Be aware of plant locations and root prune status.
- Customer Relations: Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers. Regularly engage with customers, both in-person and online, to understand their needs and respond to inquiries. Provide measurements, photographs, and quotes. Meet and assist customers in both the container and field facilities. Track customer requests and follow up as material becomes available. Track tagging, including dates and locations, and remove expired tags.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with office management, and container and field teams to schedule pickups. Manage exports, including inspection and permit requirements.
- Production Planning: Collaborate with the Office Manager and Production Manager to implement and adjust production schedules to meet internal targets and customer demand, ensuring the timely propagation, planting, and maintenance of nursery stock.
- Inventory Management: Collaborate with the Office Manager and Production Manager to track inventory and ensure optimal stocking, including quantities, sizes, and species composition. Advise when material is ready to step up or sell.
- Plant Health & Quality Control: Monitor the health and appearance of plants throughout all stages of growth, ensuring they meet the nursery’s quality standards. Report to senior management any issues related to pests, diseases, or environmental factors.
- Cost Management: Identify areas for greater operational efficiencies and implement process improvements.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards. Promote a safe working environment and ensure staff adhere to safety.
Qualifications:
- Experience in sales, marketing, and customer service, preferably in horticulture, landscaping, or a related industry.
- Knowledge of South Florida native plants and ecologically appropriate Caribbean species, especially their attributes and uses in the landscape trade. (Additional knowledge of ornamental palms and cycads preferred but not required.)
- Familiarity with plant propagation, care, and nursery operations.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Fluency in written and conversational English. Ability to communicate clearly in Spanish.
- Passion for environmentally responsible practices that support regional ecosystems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work hands-on and be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, social media platforms, and email marketing tools is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Compensation Range: Starting at $75,000 per year commensurate with experience. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
Compensation Package: Eligible for year-end performance bonus
