Required Qualifications:
• Strong plant identification and horticultural knowledge, with a focus on South Florida and the Caribbean region
• Familiarity with site inspection protocols and field coordination with contractors
• Ability to develop detailed planting plans, specifications, and plant lists
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (nursery and site visits are required)
• Valid passport (for international travel)
• Experience with recent releases of AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required
• Good communication, time management and collaboration skills
• Experience with CSI-format planting specifications is a plus
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Advise the design team on regionally appropriate plant species for use in planting plans
• Develop and refine detailed plant lists and planting specifications
• Review plant material submittals from contractors for accuracy and appropriateness
• Conduct nursery visits to source and tag plant materials
• Perform field inspections and provide observations
• Advise contractors on tree trimming, root pruning, and tree relocation methods and best practices
• Assist with the development of internal plant resource materials and reference libraries
• Support site-specific plant palette research and sourcing
• Collaborate with the design team to ensure planting designs align with site conditions and ecological goals
• Edit landscape-related specifications in CSI format or similar
Skills:
• Deep understanding of tropical and subtropical plant species, native and adaptive plants
• Demonstrates a good sense of design
• Practical knowledge of nursery operations and contractor practices
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams and on-site personnel
• Self-starter with a passion for plants and ecological landscape practices
