Nursery Laborer
Job Summary:
The Plant Nursery Laborer is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the nursery, including planting, transplanting, watering, pruning, and maintaining plant stock. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in various weather conditions. The laborer ensures plants remain healthy and presentable for sale or installation.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant, transplant, and pot plants according to nursery standards.
Water, fertilize, and prune plants as needed to maintain quality.
Monitor plants for pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies, and report concerns to supervisors.
Assist with loading and unloading plant materials, soil, mulch, and other supplies.
Maintain clean and organized work areas, including greenhouses, growing beds, and storage areas.
Operate basic nursery equipment and tools safely.
Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Assist with seasonal tasks, such as preparing beds, applying mulch, and covering/uncovering plants for frost protection.
Provide basic customer assistance when necessary (e.g., helping load plants into vehicles).
Qualifications:
Previous nursery, landscaping, or horticulture experience preferred, but willing to train.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform repetitive manual labor.
Basic knowledge of plant care and maintenance is a plus.
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
Work Environment:
Outdoor and greenhouse work environment, subject to heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions.
Requires standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive movements throughout the shift.
Schedule:
Full-time or seasonal; weekend availability may be required during peak seasons.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
