Landscape Construction Department Manager
General Job Description:
The Landscape Construction Department Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the landscape construction division, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. This role leads department personnel, manages active projects, drives operational efficiency, and collaborates with the General Manager to achieve company goals.
Working Hours: 7:00AM - 5:00PM or as required
Main Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and manage accountability for managers, foremen, and field staff
Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with direct reports
Host weekly department meetings
Foster positive work culture and promote team development with HR & Training Career Coach
Conduct regular performance reviews and address personnel issues
Company Leadership
Participate in leadership meetings to provide strategic input and resolve high-level issues
Project Management
Oversee bidding, planning, scheduling, and execution of landscape construction projects
Ensure project completion aligns with schedule, budget, and quality standards
Coordinate with design, procurement, and maintenance departments to ensure seamless project delivery
Budget & Financial Management
Prepare and manage departmental budgets, including forecasting and financial reporting
Monitor project costs and implement profitability strategies
Approve purchases and manage vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective procurement
Track installation KPIs: Estimated vs. Actual Hours, Materials, Subcontractor Costs
Participate in monthly financial reviews for both company and department
Client Relations
Serve as primary contact for clients on construction projects
Maintain strong client relationships and address concerns promptly
Quality Assurance & Safety
Establish and enforce quality standards
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and safety protocols
Promote a safety-focused culture within the department
Operational Efficiency
Develop and implement SOPs and process improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability
Ensure accurate project documentation (contracts, change orders, permits, etc.)
Strategic Planning
Contribute to company strategic planning and pursue department growth opportunities
Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
Minimum 5–7 years of landscape construction experience, with at least 5 years in management
Proven success managing large-scale landscape projects
Strong leadership, project management, and budgeting skills
In-depth knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and safety standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, and project management software (Aspire a plus)
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
Landscape Industry Certifications (LIC) or equivalent are a plus
