The capable and hands-on leader must be able to provide clear direction and appropriate delegation when necessary to a crew of landscape workers to accomplish the projects set as short-term goals while also being able to keep track of the long-term maintenance, projects, and plans assigned. They will supervise the implementation of composting, planting, mulching, watering, weeding, control of plant pathogens, plant hygiene etc to ensure optimal quality of display beds as well as mass propagation of plants.
The candidate must be able to multi-task by checking up on all delegated projects, as well as creating standards for all landscape practices and holding crews accountable, training including coaching and mentoring, and manages and supports the overall plant health and soil nutrition strategies for all the flora/fauna areas and is especially aware of the highly visible areas seen by members and residents.
Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, plan, and coordinate plant material installation including annuals, perennials, ground covers, shrubs, trees, turf grass and tropical plants.
Maintain and monitor irrigation systems and discuss changes in frequency or duration with the supervisor
Maintains accurate and current records of all pesticide/fertilizer applications used
Ability to organize, plan and teach instructional whether written or verbal format in horticulture related topics to enhance value via membership
Collaborates and consults with executive team or members concerning desired results of horticultural or landscaping projects.
Oversees projects by outside contractors and ensures contractors operate within Club standards and specifications.
